General specification
We are offering an interesting and varied full time role for a software engineer. You need to be very proficient in PHP4 and PHP5 who can hit the ground running and grasp both existing systems and new business requirements to develop further modules and extensions. Excellent all round IT skills with leading software packages and relevant tools. Familiar with Joomla and fully capable at html, css, cvs source control, javascript, mysql and ajax.
Creative, logical, efficient and with superb attention to detail. The successful candidate must also have strong interpersonal skills to assist with client interaction and work well both on their own and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Developing and maintaining PHP and MySQL applications. - a fast learning curve to understand how the existing array of applications work and to enhance and extend these applications to meet new required functionality whilst maintaining corporate standards.
Analysing business requirements and designing solutions for clients - quickly translating business needs into workable designs and solutions. Understanding the priorities and the nuances of the business requirements.
Initial testing of developed solutions - independent testing will occur but we require a developer to test their own work initially.
Assistance with marketing activities, client presentations and meetings - presentable, with good listening, verbal and written skills to assist client pitches and interact at project meetings.
Assistance with technical support - polite and helpful client interaction, logging incidents and managing the resolution of incidents and reported issues.
Some project planning, report writing, and technical writing - to ensure systems can be "maintained" easily and delivered to meet key time scales.
Additional Duties and Strengths
Prepared to assist with all aspects of running a small business.
Keen to work well as part of a team and interact positively with all Contractors, Employees and Clients relating to the Company.
Interested in sport with a good understanding of sports clubs and sports organisations. Knowledge of anti-doping issues in sport a bonus.
Hours of Work
Note: there is a limited monthly budget for salaries assigned for the next 6 months so the hours will be based on the agreed rate. There is scope to explore this as a part time role alongside other contracting work or as a temporary full time role which could extend subect to the success of the business sales and the candidate's own performance.
Location
Based at a home office with four networked PC's but with opportunity for remote working for part of the week. Large family home overlooking tennis courts and nearby to local shops off Sandpit Lane in St. Albans.
